Sika MonoTop 166 is not only the perfect choice for effective waterproofing but also enhances the sustainability and longevity of constructions.
Sika MonoTop® 166 Construction Process
1. Surface preparation
Before starting the application of Sika MonoTop® 166, it is necessary to ensure that the concrete and mortar surfaces have been properly cured:
- Ensure concrete and mortar surfaces are free of grease, dirt or other impurities that could cause flaking.
- If the surface is too smooth or contaminated, it is necessary to carry out sandblasting and soaking the surface before use.
- Cracks with a width greater than 0.4 mm and honeycomb holes up to 40 mm deep and 25 mm wide should be treated first.
2. Mixing mortar mix Sika MonoTop 166
- Mix three parts Sika MonoTop 166 powder with one part water by mass ratio until the mixture reaches the desired consistency.
- The mixing to be done in the blender does not exceed 500 RPM.
- Mixing time at least 3 minutes or until the mixture is homogeneous.
- Let the mixture stand for about 1-3 minutes after mixing, do not add water after mixing.
3. Apply wet method
- The surface must be wet before application to ensure the best penetration of the mortar mixture.
- Apply the first coat using a brush, brush or spray at a rate of 1 kg/m2.
- Allow the first coat to dry well before proceeding with the second coat.
- Apply the second coat perpendicular to the first layer with the rated amount of 1 kg/m2.
- Ensure that both screeds are applied evenly and smoothly for best performance.
4. Dry application (Passive waterproofing)
- After pouring fresh concrete, evenly spread Sika MonoTop® 166 powder on the concrete surface with a nominal amount of 3 - 3.5 kg/m2 to achieve the initial setting rate.
- Then perform a smoothing of the surface with the appropriate tool.
- Before pouring fresh concrete, sprinkle Sika MonoTop® 166 powder evenly on the concrete surface with a nominal amount of 2 kg/m2 to create an active waterproofing layer.
Note that the construction of Sika MonoTop® 166 needs to follow the correct procedures and instructions to ensure the best performance and durability for the project.
